This is Lucy. She's my new favorite child :)
So the story behind this: I literally haven't ridden my mountain bike since I got pregnant with Morgan (early 2006) and my poor bike has just been sitting around being not very useful. We decided to sell my bike and just get a beach cruiser to have some fun riding around when we are camping, especially since we've been doing a lot of beach trips lately. (I got the idea after seeing Jane's cute cruiser.) I was excited about getting one, but it wasn't until Family Camp and my "test ride" of Marijoy's bike and seeing a few others there that I was hooked! I came home, did a ton of research and made my decision. I was looking for an Electra OM. Fortunately the first and only bike shop we went to had the exact one I wanted!
We went in with a "plan" based on our budget to get a deal based on using Dave Ramsey's techniques and Todd was awesome, stuck to his guns and we came out with my pretty new Lucy, a free basket, and a great price. I was lucky too, they just got my bike in, and had it in the front window so she had never been ridden and was perfect. Some of the others that had been in the section with the rest of cruisers were dirty or had a couple little scratches.
Honestly after mountain biking so much I NEVER thought I'd be into a beach cruiser at all but I can't wait for our next trip to break her in! It will definitely take some getting used to though...I had a little freak out trying to find the hand breaks until I remembered it had pedal brakes, only 3 speeds, a kick stand, and YIKES 35lbs! Definitely heavier than my Trek.
Love the cushy seat (definitely NOT like a MTB at all)
