Gina's First Tattoo

On April Fools Day I finally got my first tattoo. I've been wanting one for years now and finally got up the nerve to get one after watching a Marathon of LA Ink with Jay and Todd.

I wanted it on my foot which happens to be one of the most painful places you can get one. BUT that's where I wanted it so I knew I'd just have to suffer for it. It took a while to decide where and who I wanted to do the ink, but after several people (including Ma) referred me to Henry Powell at Six Feet Under, I chose to wait the few weeks it would take to have him do it.

I had originally wanted a bunch of vines and some small flowers (to represent my three kiddos), but once I talked to Henry and he drew up something different and explained how good it would look on my foot, I decided to go with his vision. I figured he's the artist, he must know what he's talking about, especially when I can barely draw stick people!

Putting the stencil on. The ONLY non-painful part.

It took about an hour and a half for him to do it. It was VERY painful, I'd say right up there with childbirth towards the end. Todd kept laughing cuz I was making so many faces trying to stay still. Henry said I did great though, and I never screamed like you see those crazy girls on You Tube.

Corey Miller (the owner) happened to stop by the shop. Earlier in the week I read that it was their 13 year anniversary since the shop opened, so Ma suggested I make some cookies and bring them in. Corey stopped by to thank me for them and I asked him for a picture. He said afterward that I got a rare one of him with his glasses on. He was thinner than he looked on TV and looked pretty tired. I can't imagine driving to Hollywood every day and running your own shop as well. He was really nice, actually everyone in the shop was very nice. I'd highly recommend that place.

Henry was so nice, very quiet and had a gentle touch. He's been doing tattoos for a long time and has been at the shop since they opened.

Here I am trying to look at the clock to see how much longer I had to endure the torture!

Henry even gave me a free t-shirt from the shop afterward!

At home after I took the bandage off. I got two blue flowers, one for Jett and the other for Jackson, and a pink flower for Morgan :)
